We are conscious of our sustainable footprint at Yamhill Vineyards Bed & Breakfast. We have Geo Thermal heating and cooling with an additional pump which heats the hot water from the compressor. The house fan fully exchanges air twice daily for efficiency and cleanliness.
Our garden includes rhubarb, herbs, squash, tomatoes, apples, plums, and two types of pears used for breakfast and sweet treats. When in season fresh wild blackberries are harvested to produce great jams and are frozen for enjoyment at our table for breakfast and desserts. In the fall the vineyard grapes are picked at perfection to make breakfast juice as well as jellies.
We encourage a variety of birds by having feeders and plants available. Bird houses are also in use for their nesting. We have a Koi and Goldfish pond that help control the mosquitos. The vineyard is maintained in such a way as to encourage natural bug predators.
Reducing the amount of garbage is a must. This is our way of life style not just our business practice. We recycle plastics, glass, and papers and food scrapes are composted. What must go to a bin is included in a shared garbage service. We have little that goes into a land fill. Useable household goods and clothing are donated to appropriate centers.
Appliances and lights are also energy efficient.
